Governance Overview

Cabinet oversees the implementation of South Australia’s Strategic Plan throughout government and into the community.

In particular, Cabinet focuses on ensuring that State Government agencies are pursuing plan targets in a collaborative, focused and innovative way.  The Plan is the main instrument for determining strategic priorities within agencies and is an important element of performance assessment for chief executives.

However, the achievement of the Plan’s targets also requires concerted effort from organisations external to State Government – unions, the business sector, local government, community groups and social interest groups – and individual South Australians.

To continue this effort, and build on the engagement process. the Executive Committee of Cabinet is supported with the continued assistance of the Audit Committee and the Community Engagement Board, which serves as a conduit between State Government and the broader community.

The Community Engagement Board’s roles include: promoting the plan in the wider community, overseeing a formal accreditation or partnerships program so that organisations can affiliate with the plan and advising Executive Committee of Cabinet periodically on the Plan’s impact and implementation outside Government.
