Explanatory Comments

The SASP Household survey previously provided the progress data for this target’s key measure.  The SASP household survey has been discontinued and there is no data available beyong the baseline year. 

For the purposes of this measure, ‘public spaces’ includes beaches, rivers, parks, cycling or walking paths, community gardens, public gardens, outdoor community spaces and outdoor recreational and sporting facilities.

In 2012 survey respondents reported visiting these types of public spaces an average of 13.9 times per month in the last 12 months. Parks and cycling or walking paths were the most commonly visited types of public spaces.
