Explanatory Comments

This target has been achieved.

Prior to the Australian Curriculum, Aboriginal cultural studies was a stand-alone unit of study and data collected for this SASP target referred to the proportion of schools teaching this unit of study.

Since the base year the Australian Curriculum has been implemented. The Australian Curriculum sets the expectations for what all Australian students should be taught, regardless of where they live or their background. As part of the Australian Curriculum there is an Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Histories and Cultures cross-curriculum priority.

The adoption of the Australian Curriculum was fully implemented by 2014.
