Explanatory Comments

The Australian Bureau of Statistics is no longer releasing issues of the data source (ABS cat. no. 6287.0) specified for this target in the SASP. Other ABS data (Cat. no. 4714.0, Cat no. 4727.0.55.006, and Cat. no. 6202.0) that are used to report on the National Indigenous Reform Agreement performance target ‘halve the gap in employment outcomes between Indigenous and non-Indigenous Australians by 2018’ will be used for measuring progress against T51.

In 2008 (the baseline year), the gap between Aboriginal and non‑Aboriginal unemployment rates was 13.7 percentage points, which widened to 17.9 percentage points by 2012-13.
