Explanatory Comments

In 2012, 572,100 South Australian's aged 15+ participated in sport or physical recreation more than once per week.

In 2014 (the latest available data) 551,400 South Australians aged 15 years or older participated in sport or active recreation, on average, more than once per week.

Data is no longer collected for the attendance of a sport event as a spectator supplementary measure. This was last reported by the ABS in 2009-10. No update is available for this estimate.

The Australian Sports Commission have recently published AUSPLAY a national representative survey of sport and recreation participation. The new AUSPLAY survey vehicle is not directly comparable with previous ABS or ERASS data due to differences in survey methodology.
