Port Adelaide, a fresh approach

Local committee announced

In January this year, Premier Jay Weatherill held a public meeting in Port Adelaide to understand what locals want for the Port.

As a result, a Port Adelaide Steering Committee has been established and will meet for the first time in early May.

The Steering Committee, made up of community members, expert advisers, a council representative, and independent Chair, Peter Bicknell, will guide the master planning process to revive Port Adelaide.

Reporting directly to the Minister for Housing and Urban Development, Patrick Conlon, the Committee will provide advice on the master plan for the Port centre, the waterfront and the historic precinct.

The Steering Committee will ensure that locals have a voice and are fully informed of progress.

Since the public meeting in January, an online forum has been set up as another way of letting people have their say.  The forum will be open throughout the consultation period, and you can comment here.

Community consultation has started on this website and the Steering Committee will conduct meetings as part of the broader engagement strategy. It is intended that this process will be completed by the end of the year.

All feedback is being collected and given to the new Port Adelaide Steering Committee that will use it to help shape the master plan, ensuring that the community's vision is central to this work.
